Snow Sport England’s Nordic Proficiency Awards are based on
a five-star system. Our own courses combine track and

You need at least a week’s good experience before joining these courses
at any level.
At One Star you are taught and assessed on:

-double pole
-star turns and kick-turns
-side-stepping on flat and hilly ground
-straight running down gentle slopes
-snowplough glide and brake
At Two Star you develop the basic techniques, and also add:
-double pole and kick
-basic skating and skate-turns
-step turns
-herringbone
-snowplough turns
-traversing
At Three Star we further develop and refine basic techniques, and add:
-more advanced skating (V1, V2 alternate & marathon skate)
-linked stem turns
-swing to the hill
-basic parallel and telemark turns
-side-slipping
Our courses include training and assessment. We supply a logbook.
Successful candidates can apply to Snow Sport England for appropriate certificates and badges (at
extra cost of about £10).
Hire of standard recreational track skis is included. Specialist skis
are not required.
